Salary Survey

An ongoing component of the mission of 3rd District Nurses is to provide annual salary data to and about Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.  As of January 2010, this nurse population consisted of 209 Nurse Midwives, 2,486 Nurse Practitioners, 486 Clinical Nurse Specialists, and 1,478 Nurses Anesthetists - a total of 4,659 APRNs registered to practice in the state of Minnesota.  (Note that Nurse Anesthetists are not included in the survey.)

A survey questionnaire was sent via email to that portion of the population who have email addresses of record (with the Minnesota Board of Nursing) – viz., 97% (3,081 of 3,181) of the APRN population.  452 (15%) were completed and returned for analysis and tabulation.  We are particularly indebted to these participants, because without their participation this survey could obviously not have been completed.

The resulting survey document consists of 15 pages of statistical tabulations and charts, detailing cross-relationships between salaries and population, employer, experience, years-of-practice, location-of-employment, and benefits – extracted from data contained in the survey questionnaire.  In addition, the questions contained in the survey and tabulations of the responses thereto are included as Appendix I.  Finally, responses (narratives) to questions relating to Doctor of Nursing Practices are included as Appendices II and III.

The Salary Survey was sponsored by The Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Interest Group of 3rd District Nurses and was produced and compiled by 3rd District Nurses (Ken Tiede, BA, MA, Mathematics & Statistics – University of Minnesota).
