Healthy Feet for You and Your Patients
Objectives: After completion of this program nurse participants will be able to:
- Recognize common age-related changes to the feet.
- Understand how to recognize and respond to the most common cause of foot pain.
- Better recognize and understand structural fractures of footwear and how they relate to foot health.

Presenters: Paul Langer, DPM, specialized in foot disorders, biomechanics, sports medicine and diabetic foot care. He received his podiatric education at Des Moines University and then completed two years of residency and surgical training at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis. He has lectured at and served on the medical staff of international athletic events including the Boston Marathon and China’s Gobi March. He is a clinical advisor for the American Running Association, and an associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is the author of Great Feet for Life: Foot care and Footwear for Healthy Aging (www.greatfeetforlife.com).
Dan Husom, C. Ped, C.O. is an Orthopedic Shoe Technician, Certified Pedorthist and Certified Orthotist. He is the owner of Buffalo Orthotics in Buffalo, Minnesota. He served as a clinical associate of Abbott Northwestern Foot and Ankle Clinic and spent 8 years with Northwestern Artificial Limb and Brace/Novacare Orthotics and Prosthetics. He has been awarded a patent for his invention, Gradient Density Soling, a design to rectify the negative effects caused by wearing soft soled footwear.
