Bacterial Resistance to Antibiotics When: October 21, 2008 Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm Purpose: This program will provide the audience with an overview of the history of antibiotic resistance, mechanisms by which resistance develops, and practices that both providers and lay people can take to minimize the threat. Objectives: At the completion of this conference the participant will be able to: - Describe a fomite, explain how it can play a role in the transmission of microorganisms (including times of surface viability) and the importance of surface disinfection.
- List community practices that could play a role in the increase of antibiotic resistance outside of healthcare facilities.
- List sociological impacts that will result from antibiotic resistance.
