THere was a short piece on the NBC news a few nights ago that talked about the severe shortage of dr's, especially in primary care. They also mentioned that several states want to change the requirement of the APRN's needing "supervision." Believe it or not, they did not say really anything else. I was a bit frustrated with this as a problem was identified--yet no solutions proposed. There is little communication about how to fix it. I really think we need to help make these things happen and change--but it is difficult with so few people being willing to be active in legislative activities. Does anyone have any idea of how we can motivate the APRN's towards "making things happen" with the goal of addressing the very real needs of the community we serve.

MNA has rallied the nurses towards taking a stand in advocating for themselves and their patients. How can we get the APRN's (which are typically not union based) to get involved, get motivated, and get moving to help our clients, ourselves, and our practice of nursing? Thoughts, anyone??
