Each year during National Nurses Week, 3rd District Nurses recognizes four members (one in each of four categories) who make a significant contribution to their profession or specialty through the District. Members may nominate candidates who meet the specific requirements for the awards listed below and, if selected by the Awards Committee, the recipient will received their award at our annual banquet held each May during National Nurses Week.
Raye Kreevoy Gerontological Nursing Award
The Raye Kreevoy Gerontological Nursing Award recognizes the 3rd District Nurses member who has made significant contributions in gerontological nursing.

Criteria for Nominees: 1. Demonstrates excellence in gerontological nursing by at least three (3) of the following:
- Upholds the ANA Standards for Nursing Practice
- Upholds the ANA Standards for Gerontological Nursing Practice
- Creativity
- Innovation
- Leadership
- Certified by a nationally recognized certification body in gerontology
2. Has been employed in gerontology for at least three of the last five years 3. Promotes gerontological nursing 4. Advocates for the client-family unit
Deadline for Application: April 16 for each year's awards.
Clinical Performance Award
The 3rd District Nurses Clinical Practice Award recognizes the 3rd District Nurses member who has demonstrated expertise in the clinical setting.

Criteria for Nominees: 1. Nominees must be actively employed in clinical nursing practice at least half-time. 2. Must demonstrate excellence in nursing by at least three (3) of the following:
- Innovative practice
- Advocates for clients and their families
- Develops himself/herself professionally
- Serves as a role model for others
- Collaborates with other disciplines
- Upholds the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice
- Certified by a nationally recognized certification body in his/her area of practice
Deadline for Application: April 16 for each year's awards.
Service Award
The 3rd District Nurses Service Award recognizes an active member who has made significant contributions to the District.

Criteria for Nominees: 1. Sustained involvement in 3rd District for at least three years. 2. Current involvement in at least one structural unit of 3rd District Nurses. 3. Has made an outstanding contribution to the achievement of 3rd District's vision, mission and goals through participation in committees, interest groups, the Board of Directors, special task forces or District Meetings.
Deadline for Nominations: April 16 for each year's awards.
Advanced Practice Award
The 3rd District Nurses Advanced Practice Award recognizes the member who has demonstrated expertise in advanced clinical practice nursing.

Criteria for nominees: 1. Must be certified in their specialty area as a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse midwife, or nurse anesthetist by a nationally recognized body. 2. Has met advanced educational and clinical practice requirements beyond the basic education required of all registered nurses. 3. Is actively employed in advanced nursing practice at least half-time. 4. Demonstrates excellence in advanced nursing practice by at least three of the following:
- Independent decision-making
- Innovative practice
- Advocates for clients and their families
- Develops himself/herself professionally
- Serves as a role model for others
- Collaborates with other disciplines
- Upholds ANA Standards of Nursing Practice
Nomination Procedure
- Anyone can nominate a registered nurse for an award.
- Award nominees must be current members of 3rd District Nurses.
- Nomination for an award shall consist of a completed nomination form and three letters of support for the nomination.
- The 3rd District Nurses Awards Committee will judge entries*.
- Nomination deadline is April 16.
Awards will be presented at the 3rd District Nurses Annual National Nurses Week Banquet in May.
